CARE Project
I am the Early Intervention officer with Humberside Police, and I run a project called C.A.R.E.

The project is in its pilot phase and incorporates 5 primary schools and its students’ safeguarding ambassadors. We look at the local area and discuss things that make the children feel unsafe, or if there is rubbish or graffiti etc and we try and get the issues addressed. It is proving quite successful with Hull City Council on board and leading the way with making a change.
We have a termly meeting with all 5 schools and every half term we have a walk about.
In our last all school meeting East Park Primary raised the issue of the speeding on Gillshill Road, even though there are speed bumps. The students and staff have noticed that buses are also speeding along this route and it is causing some concern. A letter has been sent to remind drivers that there is a very large primary school along this route and some children have started to walk to and from school on their own and that the limit is 20mph.
