Medical Matters
If your child needs medicines, please consider whether or not they should be in school.
If your child is prescribed medication from the doctor please ensure it is at intervals when a parent or carer can administer it. Remember that our school staff are first aid trained and have no medical qualifications.
If your child has a Statement for a specific need please consult the school where all necessary arrangements will be met. The designated First Aider at Work in our school is Mrs Crawford. (See Medicine Policy)
Sick children
Parents are contacted by telephone whenever a child is considered to be too ill to remain in school.
For this reason it is vital that the school has up-to-date Home and Work telephone numbers to ring in the event of an emergency.
In the case of serious accidents, pupils are sent, or taken to, the casualty department at Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.
In such a situation the parents are consulted first if this is at all possible. All serious accidents are reported on a standard form, which is submitted, to the Education Authority.
Children with special medical conditions
Parents are asked to indicate to the school any medical conditions, which might affect their child’s schooling. It is vital that the school is aware of eyesight or hearing problems.

Site Security
The security of pupils whilst on our site is taken very seriously at East Park Primary.
We have substantial fencing around the site with members of staff present at entrances and exits when the gates are open.
Parents are asked to make appointments to speak to teachers as it is not possible to allow entry to school other than through the main office.
Our car park is controlled through the main office intercom system to allow measured access. The car park gates are closed at the beginning and end of the school day to ensure the safety of our pedestrians at this time.
Early Help Family Support-Information for Parents
There will be times when you and your family need support and times when you are not sure what you need to do to make things better. There are a group of services in Hull collectively known as "Early Help" who can support you at these times and make problems easier to understand and quicker to solve.
How can I find out more about accessing Early Help Support?
Speak to somebody who is currently working with you, for example an Early Help Family Support Worker or Health Professional or your child's School and ask for information about Early Help or alternatively you can request Early Help Support for you and/or your family via the online form which can be found at:

Online Safety
The internet – on the whole is an inspiring and positive place.
The internet is an amazing resource which enables children and young people to connect, communicate and be creative in a number of different ways, on a range of devices.
However, the internet is always changing, and being able to keep up to date with your children’s use of technology can be a challenge.
You may sometimes feel that your children have better technical skills than you do, however children and young people still need advice and protection when it comes to managing their lives online.
Issues that your child may encounter on the internet will vary depending on their age and online activities.
This website offers comprehensive advice for parents:

Operation Encompass
East Park Primary is part of the Humberside Police Operation Encompass programme.
Operation Encompass directly connects the police with schools to secure better outcomes for children who are subject or witness to police-attended incidents of domestic abuse. Rapid provision of support within the school environment means children are better safeguarded against the short-, medium- and long-term effects of domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass is an early information sharing partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. Information is shared by the police with a school’s trained Key Adult (DSL – B. Vine) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident thus enabling appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
Any parent who would like to talk to someone confidentially about domestic abuse, can contact B. Vine (Key Adult) through the School Office.
Health and Safety Ambassadors
At East Park, we have a team of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils who take a lead on Health and Safety around the site. They applied for the job with specific criteria, interviewed by Miss Vine and selected. They undertake regular site audits to check for any areas which could be unsafe and report these to Miss Vine and Mr Awty. We recognise that pupils might notice things that we may not and this process allows us to take pupil viewpoints.
The Health and Safety Ambassadors will also undertake walks with our Governors during our termly Governor visits.
Already, we have listened to the pupils and replaced all the benches on site to provide new sturdier seating.
