Cavendish / Gillshill Legacy

As a new chapter as East Park Primary School begins, it remains important to recognise the shared heritage of our tow founder schools: Gillshill Primary School and Cavendish Primary School. While the buildings on Cavendish Road have long been a hub of learning, housing both schools, this amalgamation marks a significant step forward, combining their strengths to create an even brighter future for our children in Hull.

Gillshill Primary School has been a cornerstone of the Sutton Ings community for many years. Known for its strong family-orientated approach, it has nurtured generations of pupils, fostering a love of learning and a sense of belonging. With a reputation for high academic, creative, and social standards, Gillshill proudly provided a stimulating and inclusive environment, with staff often educating three generations of local families. It was a school that truly understood the importance of every moment in a child's education, striving to ensure pupils left with a wealth of happy memories and the confidence to succeed.

Cavendish Primary School, also situated on Cavendish Road, shared a similar dedication to providing a caring and nurturing environment. As a two-form entry school, it welcomed hundreds of children, priding itself on high-quality provision in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Cavendish, like Gillshill, was committed to equipping its pupils with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive, focusing on a broad and engaging curriculum that prepared children for their next steps in learning.

Both Gillshill and Cavendish Primary Schools have been integral parts of the local community, each building a legacy of educational excellence and a deep connection with the families they served. They consistently achieved "Good" or "Outstanding" Ofsted ratings, a testament to the hard work and dedication of their staff, pupils, and parents.
