PE and Sports Premium

Sports Premium grant expenditure report

The government is providing additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Possible uses for the funding might include:

  • hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers.
  • supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional Change4Life clubs.
  • paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport.
  • providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE and sport.
  • running sport competitions, or increasing pupils’ participation in the School Games its children.
  • buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and sport.
  • providing places for pupils on after school sports clubs and holiday clubs.
  • pooling the additional funding with that of other local schools.

Our allocation for 2025/26 is £19,970

At East Park Primary School, we pride ourselves in the school's philosophy that PE and sport is for all..

PE teacher Mr D Start, and Miss Jesney, the PE lead are both fully committed to offering the children of East Park Primary School the best sporting opportunities they can.

We offer indoor and outdoor PE lessons (weather permitting) and the children also do the daily mile to ensure the children meet the required government guidelines for PE, within primary schools. For the third consecutive year we have achieved the 'School Games Platinum award for PE and sports', putting the school in the top 6% of schools nationally.

Extra-Curricular sports competitions are available for children through the Hull Activie Schools sports scheme. We aim to take as many children as possible to sports tournaments during the year. Football, Rugby, Cross Country, Athletics, Boccia, Swimming, Orienteering, Golf, and Dodgeball, are just some of the tournaments we aim to compete in throughout the year.

We aim to give all the children the opportunity to participate in competitive sport. We hope that when a child leaves in year 6, they have represented the school at least once in their time at East Park Primary School. We believe that there is a sport to suit every child within the school.

When the opportunity arises, we aim to take children to professional sports events, enabling children to experience high level sport. In the past we have attended Man City, Man United, England u21s, England ladies and International Rugby League fixtures.

National Curriculum Swimming

At East Park we offer swimming as a vital part of the National Curriculum in upper Key Stage Two. Learning to swim is an essential life skill, and the lessons pupils undertake aim to make sure every child is confident and safe in and around water. We follow the National Curriculum requirements, which means all children work towards being able to swim 25 metres unaided and know how to perform a safe self-rescue.
In 2025 97% of our pupils passed the 25m front and back assessment and completed their water safety.
Pupils are also provided with additional water-based and swimming opportunities such as Allerthorpe Water Park as part of the upper Key Stage Two residential.
